The Windowed Operating System or WOS project is and idea of Yannick Majoros to write an operating system compatible with Windows 95 and Windows NT but will run much better and have far more features.
Needless to say this is a huge undertaking, and will take a tremendous amount of time. As a result, Yannick has arranged the project into teams, with a different team undertaking different parts of the project.
This operating system will be placed under the GNU Public License (GPL) so that the binaries and the source code will be free for everyone to use.
This page is the home of the boot team. On it, I intend to say where we are up to, what we are doing and provide useful links to other sites.
This page is still under construction so be patient! It will only get better!
If you think you could benefit this project in testing, programming, documentation, graphics, or whatever, take a hike to the WOS Home Page.
If you want to join the boot-up team, go to the WOS Home Page and register with the project then e-mail me saying why you want to be on the boot up team and what you can contribute.
This is where all the details to do with the boot-up will be placed. Any information pertaining to the Boot sector and Boot Loader will be placed under one of these links.
Here is some information that will probably be useful for coders. This was originally send to me by Florian Klaempfl, the Kernel Team coordinator. This is just a bunch of unrelated stuff. See what you can find. Note that I may change these without comment to keep them up to date.
Sorry.... there aren't any yet. If you find one (other than the WOS Home page) let me know by e-mailing me.
The current WOS Boot team mailing list resides at sid-dis.com. To subscribe to it, send a blank email to [email protected] with the word "subscribe" (without the quotes of course) in the subject.
To send a message to the list, send the message to [email protected].
See the WOS Home page for more mailing lists related to the project.
I suppose I should mention that Windows, Windows 95 and Windows NT are registered trademarks of Microsoft Corportation. (Although everyone knows that, as much as we may hate it.)
This page was created using Netscape Navigator Gold 3.0 and will be viewed best with it.
If you find any errors on this page, (such as non-existant links, spelling, grammar, etc) e-mail me with the problem.
